If your dishwasher or washing machine has seen better days, consider investing in a more efficient, water-saving ENERGY STAR® appliance that will help you conserve hot water. Your water heater will outlive your car payment.

Water heaters generally last between 10 and 15 years, but if yours is more than seven years old you might want to start looking.  Doing a little research up front will help you make the right choice instead of a snap decision when it bites the bullet.

While energy efficient water heaters cost more than others, the return on investment is significant over the lifetime of the heater.

You have options!

  • Natural gas on-demand water heaters, heat water without using a storage tank, and research shows that you could save up to 30 per cent over a standard natural gas heater.
  • A drain-water waste heat recovery system captures the waste from hot water that normally goes down the drain from showers and dishwashers that preheats cold water entering the water heater.
  • Heat pump water heaters can use 50 per cent less electricity than conventional electric water heaters. A word to the wise – call us before you buy one and we’ll have a look at installation requirements.
