Spring is a good reminder to take care of things around the house that only need to be taken care of a couple of times a year. Our extreme Minnesota climate requires us to do regular maintenance to make sure our homes are running smoothly and little problems don’t turn into bigger ones. If you look around your home and wonder what you should be doing in addition to opening your windows and enjoying the fresh, warm air with a cocktail in the yard, Practical Systems wants to give you some tips on how to keep your home appliances running smoothly.
A good reminder of where to start in your springtime maintenance is the utility room. Our Minnesota summers tend to get a little humid, so there’s no reason for you to have your humidifier on. While you’re at it, go ahead and turn your dehumidifier on. Dehumidifiers will help keep your home feeling more cool and make it easier to sleep when our temperatures really start to rise in July, thus allowing your air conditioner to not have to work so hard. Spring is also a good time to change your furnace filter, good prep for when it inevitably gets cold next fall. You can also change your air exchanger off and clean the filters.
